Materials

Silver jewellery:

All my silver jewelery is made of 925 sterling silver, which means that it consists of 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% being copper. Silver is alloyed with copper to give it a hardness, as silver in its purest form is very soft, which is disadvantageous when using it for jewelry making. 925 sterling silver is therefore good to use for jewelery because it is soft and malleable, which gives good design possibilities, but still a more robust material than pure silver due to the alloy with copper. 925 sterling silver is very reusable in that you can always remelt it and thus use it again and again.

ATT treatment of silver jewellery:

All silver jewelery that is sold at Ingeborg Jewelery has been given an anti-tarnish surface treatment, which means that the silver jewelery does not oxidize so quickly. Oxidation of silver occurs completely naturally and is unavoidable. This happens when silver comes into contact with water, dirt from your skin and oxygen from the air. But with anti-tarnish treatment, you strengthen the silver surface and thus make the jewelery not oxidize as quickly and keep their fine silver surface longer without becoming dark and dirty to look at.

Gold-plated jewelry:

All gold-plated jewelery sold at Ingeborg Jewelery is made of 925 sterling silver and subsequently gold-plated with a layer of 18 carat gold. Gilding with real gold is the most normal way to achieve a look like real gold jewelry, but at a much more affordable price. All jewelery is therefore made in the best possible quality, as it only consists of silver and gold.

Unfortunately, you cannot avoid that gilding wears off over time. This happens in step with the use of the jewelery when it is exposed to sweat, dirt, water and is generally in contact with the skin. It cannot be avoided that you wear out the gilding, it is a condition when you buy gold-plated jewellery. You will therefore experience over time that your gold-plated jewelery takes on a more and more silvery surface.

However, we will do everything to help you so that your gold-plated jewelery keeps its color for as long as possible. Among other things, you extend the durability of the gilding by taking good care of your jewelery and possibly give them a re-gilding when they need it. You can read more about this in the section: Product care and maintenance.

Re-gilding:

At Ingeborg Jewellery, however, I would like to avoid that you are left with a gold-plated piece of jewelery which no longer has its golden colour, but rather has become silver on the surface and which is tiring to look at. That is why I offer that you can have your jewelery re-gilded with me, so that you get your jewelery back with the finest surface of gold again, just as beautiful as when you bought it new.

All you have to do is send me an email to ingeborgjewellery@hotmail.com where you write which product you want re-gilded. Then I will send you a price of what it will cost and further details.
